In short
- Your recordings, transcripts, summaries and contacts are stored on your phone, encrypted. We keep no copy.
- When you start a transcription, the audio goes through our server (Germany) and is then transcribed by Deepgram, in the European Union, without being kept or used for training.
- Only the text of the transcript is sent to Anthropic (Claude model) to produce the summary and follow-up drafts.
- No advertising, no sale of data, no advertising trackers.
Data controller
Cd Corp, sole trader, SIREN 944 510 213, 44 rue des Bons Raisins, 92500 Rueil-Malmaison, France. Contact: contact@followbrief.com.
For the conversations you record, you decide to record them and have them processed: you are the controller of that processing towards the people you talk to, and FollowBrief acts as a processor, only to transcribe and summarize at your request.
Data processed and purposes
| Data | Why | Where and for how long |
|---|---|---|
| Conversation audio | Transcription at your request | On your phone, encrypted, until you delete it (option: automatic deletion after transcription). On our server: in memory during processing, then deleted; never written to disk. At Deepgram (EU): for the time of the transcription, never reused. |
| Transcripts, summaries, actions, contacts, notes | Running the app | On your phone, in an encrypted database, until you delete them. On our server: a transcription result is kept in memory for at most 1 hour, until your phone retrieves it. |
| Transcript text and context (contact name, subject) | Producing summaries and follow-up drafts | Sent to Anthropic for each request, not stored by us. |
| Subscription | Managing your plan | Handled by Apple or Google: we never receive your payment details. |
| Technical logs (date, error type) | Security and troubleshooting | On our server, without any conversation content. |
Legal bases
Performance of the contract (providing the service you asked for) and our legitimate interest in securing the service. Towards the people you talk to, the legal basis for recording is yours to establish (consent or legitimate interest, depending on your use).
Recipients and processors
- Contabo GmbH (Germany): hosting of the FollowBrief server.
- Deepgram (endpoint in the European Union): transcription of the audio, not kept and not used for training. [to be completed once the data processing agreement with Deepgram is signed]
- Anthropic PBC (United States): generation of summaries and follow-ups from the text. Anthropic does not use its API customers’ data to train its models. The transfer outside the European Union is covered by the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses. [to be checked and completed once the data processing agreement with Anthropic is signed]
- Apple and Google: sale and management of subscriptions, under their own policies.
Security
Encrypted database (SQLCipher) and encrypted audio files (AES-256-GCM) on the phone, with keys kept in the device’s secure keychain; lock with Face ID, fingerprint or passcode; encrypted https connections; no storage of conversation content on the server.
Your rights
You can delete a conversation (audio, transcript, summary and actions) at any time from the app, or all your data by uninstalling the app. You have the rights of access, rectification, erasure, objection, restriction and portability: write to us at the address above. You can also lodge a complaint with the CNIL (www.cnil.fr).
Deleting your data
In the app: Settings › My data › Delete all my data. Everything FollowBrief keeps on the phone is erased immediately (conversations, recordings, transcripts, summaries, contacts, reminders, settings). A single conversation can be deleted from its page, and uninstalling the app erases everything. There is no account and our server keeps nothing, so there is no data to delete on our side. Questions: contact@followbrief.com.
Informing the people you talk to
Before recording a conversation, you must inform the people involved, as the CNIL points out. The app asks you to confirm this before each recording.
This English version is provided for convenience; the French version prevails.
